The province of Zamora is located on the western edge of the region of Castilla y León. The area of production of wines under DO Toro is located southeast of the province of Zamora, and includes part of the natural regions of Tierra del Vino, Valle del Toro Guareña and Earth, and borders the steppes of Tierra del Pan y Tierra de Campos.

The total land area served by D.O. Toro, covers 62 000 ha. of land area devoted to vineyards is 8,000 hectares., of which 5500 are registered in the Control Board, which belongs to 1,200 registered wine growers.
