Area of Production

Denominación de Origen D.O. Valencia is situated near the Mediterranean coast in the east of the country, at an altitude between 250 and 1000 meters. The climate is warm with a strong influence from the Mediterranean Sea. For centuries vines have been grown on the chalky, clay soils which, in combination with long hours of sunshine, produce fruity wines that are well structured with ripe tannins.

Grape Varieties

55% Monastrell and 45% Garnacha.

Winemaking

Careful selection of the best grapes of each variety. Destemmed and gently crushed. Vinified separately in stainless steel tanks, a long maceration on the skins, using selected yeasts. The fermentation is started slowly maintaining a temperature of 10 to 12º C until a final fermentation at between 25 to 26º C. Malolactic fermentation followed by blending the wines. The wine is aged for fourteen months in new American oak barrels, followed by twelve months ageing in bottle before being released on the market. The wine has been lightly filtered.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep red.

Aroma: Elegant and complex with ripe berry fruits, vanilla and smoky aromas.

Taste: Full bodied, rich, with very smooth tannins and a long finish. The wine will improve during the next 5 years in bottle.

Serving Suggestions

Ideal to accompany rich dishes of meat, roasts, strong cheese. Serve at a temperature of 16 to 18º C. This wine should be opened at least 30 minutes before serving and may improve on decanting.
